Take a classic dumbbell. It stays still while your body finds a hundred discreet ways to compensate. Momentum takes over, your stabilizers disengage, and you finish the set convinced you've worked hard.

Fill AquaNess with water and that becomes impossible. The load shifts with each repetition, and your deep muscles spend the entire set correcting.

What changes

Load adjustable by the liter. One liter of water weighs one kilogram. You adjust before each session instead of buying heavier equipment.
Flat storage. When empty, the pair slides into a drawer or a carry-on suitcase.
No noise. Soft casing: nothing clangs on the floor, even at six in the morning above a neighbor.
Protected joints. The fluid resistance dampens the jolts that cast iron transmits to wrists and elbows.

Which capacity to choose

The stated capacities correspond to the maximum volume, not what you will have to lift. You fill to your level and add water over the weeks.

15 kg: for beginners or returning after a long break.
20 kg: regular practice, movements already mastered. The best compromise.
35 kg: advanced level, or room for several years without repurchasing.

When in doubt, choose a higher capacity. A half-filled dumbbell works perfectly; the opposite is not true.

What works during a set

Because the water moves, the recruitment goes beyond the target muscle: continuous abdominal belt and obliques, shoulders and rotator cuff for stabilization, biceps and forearms as prime movers, back and legs during carries and lunges.

Six exercises to get started

Bicep curl: 3 sets of 12, 60 sec rest. Slower on the way down than on the way up.
Shoulder press: 3 sets of 10, 75 sec rest. Lower ribs in, no arching.
Bent-over row: 3 sets of 12, 60 sec rest. Flat back, shoulder blades initiate.
Russian twist: 3 sets of 20, 45 sec rest. Rotation starts from the ribs.
Goblet squat: 3 sets of 12, 90 sec rest. Held against the chest.
Forward lunge: 3 sets of 10 per leg, 75 sec rest. Knee aligned with foot.

Two to three sessions per week, with one rest day in between. If you're starting from scratch, read where to start home strength training.

The limits, honestly stated

Water dumbbells do not replace a loaded barbell if your goal is maximum strength. Their ceiling is lower than that of cast iron. In exchange: incomparable stabilizer recruitment, gentle resistance, and almost no bulk. I have detailed the comparison in water dumbbells or cast iron dumbbells.

How long does delivery take?

Does it leak?

The cap is watertight, but you must screw it on all the way and check it before each session. Most reported leaks come from a poorly closed cap.

Hot or cold water?

Cold, from the tap. Hot water deforms the plastic over time. Empty and rinse if you leave it filled for several weeks.

I'm a beginner. Is this suitable?

It's one of the best starting points. You start half-filled, so very light, and you increase the weight over the weeks without buying new equipment.

Does it make noise?

No. The soft casing and water absorb shocks. This is the main argument for apartment living.

Can I take it on a plane?

When empty, yes, as carry-on luggage. Only fill it once you arrive.

How long before I see results?

The first visible changes appear between the sixth and eighth week, with two or three sessions per week. I prefer a realistic timeframe to a thirty-day promise.

What if it doesn't suit me?

Thirty days to return it to me, beyond the legal fourteen days, unused. Write to me, I answer myself.

Returns

You have the legal right of withdrawal of 14 days. We voluntarily extend this to 30 days from receipt.
